The digital revolution in national content, is growing quickly as an industry in the knowledge economy. Some analysts predict the digital media sector globally, could have double-digit growth rates of $2.2 Trillion (U.S) in the next few years. As this global digital media sector revolution is sweeping the world, Canada appears to be behind the 8 ball. At the present time, less than one percent of Canada’s information is available on the internet. Commerce, bussiness and research people seeking new technological information, still find themselves connected to websites from the United States and Europe. New information and technology attained is then adapted as required to situations as they exist in Canada.
It is imperative that Canada’s business create environments that are user friendly to a new high-collaborative approach to the workplace. Being receptive to new technologies and incorporating this knowledge into business can establish much deeper, more dynamic connections between employers, employees, customers and vendors. Governments and corporations will realize the same enormous productivity gains that consumers experiencsed with the arrival of Facebook, YouTube and MySpace.
